MPI Waste-to-energy

High efficient Waste to Energy demoplants

Although more and more waste is being recycled considerable amounts of non recyclable residues end up in incinerators or are still being dumped. The energy efficiency of waste incinerators is less than 30%.

MPI developed, a decentralised small scale, complete processing line for such non recyclable residues, where energy efficiencies of >80% are being reached. A key part of this processing line is the use of flash-pyrolysis, based on Clean Fuels globally patented intermittent fluidised bed pyrolysis.

In the Netherlands, in the city of Baarn, MPI will start a demoproject where 15.000 tons of construction and demolition waste residue, in stead of being burned, will be upcycled to electricity, synthetic oil, heat and reusable raw materials. The total energy amount available for sales equals the consumption of approximately 6.500 houses.

Other waste to energy plants are being developed together with different partners as suppliers from biomass input like; ditch cuttings, verge grass, saw mill waste and digestate, as well as plastics and tires.

Conversion of non recyclable residues into energy or energy carriers

Conversion into electricity, heating-oil, heat/stema, drinking water and other products

  • Non exploitable materials (30-35%), biomass, plastic waste materials, wood waste, etc.
  • App. 30 new permanent ftes
  • First location: Baarn
  • 15.000 tons of residu building and demolition scrap
  • App. 2 MegaWatt Electricity for 6.500 houses
